Legal information changes, and it varies by state
Laws about expungement, record sealing, voting rights, and employment protections vary by state and change often. Rather than summarize the law ourselves, we link to organizations that specialize in tracking these changes, because getting this wrong could cost you a real opportunity. Always confirm anything time-sensitive with a lawyer, a legal aid organization, or the relevant government agency directly.
We link to outside organizations
Some pages link to government agencies, nonprofits, and other organizations Cogitores does not run. We try to link only to established, currently active organizations, but we don’t control their websites and can’t guarantee they stay accurate. If a link is broken or something looks wrong or out of date, please tell us using the Report an Issue page.

Cogitores is being built gradually, state by state, starting with a small number of states we can verify thoroughly. Where we don’t yet have verified state-specific information, we say so plainly and point you to national resources instead, rather than guessing.
