Verified resources for Florida: getting an ID, getting vital records, sealing or expunging a record, and finding a job. We are starting with a small number of states so we can check each resource carefully; more states are coming.
Getting an ID or driver’s license
- Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), Driver Licenses & ID Cards (flhsmv.gov): apply for or renew a Florida driver license or ID card, find a driver license service center near you, and see what documents you need to bring.
Getting a birth certificate or other vital records
- Florida Department of Health, Certificates & Records (floridahealth.gov, 904-359-6900): order a certified copy of a Florida birth, death, marriage, or divorce record.
Sealing or expunging a criminal record
- Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Seal and Expunge Process (fdle.state.fl.us): Florida’s official guide to sealing or expunging a criminal history record, covering administrative expungement, court-ordered sealing and expungement, and other paths to relief. Florida’s standard is stricter than some states: to be eligible for most types of relief, you generally must not have been adjudicated guilty of the charge you want cleared, or of any other criminal offense.
Finding a job
- CareerSource Florida (careersourceflorida.com): Florida’s statewide network of career centers. Use the local office map to find free job search help, resume support, and training referrals near you.
- Florida Department of Corrections, Re-Entry Resource Directory (pubapps.fdc.myflorida.com): a statewide directory run by the Florida Department of Corrections, searchable by service, county, or city. Search under “Employment” (or another category, such as housing or substance abuse treatment) to find local reentry service providers near you.
